Ever since we moved in 16 years ago, I have always hated (yes that’s a strong word but it works here!) our Master Bathroom door! For a long time, my master bathroom was NOT an oasis! But that has changed! (That blog post is coming soon!)
Most recently though for some reason our bathroom door wasn’t closing properly (it never really did but it was getting worse). It swung into the already small bathroom taking up way to much space. So one day on a whim (yep cause my husband had so idea what I was doing and then came home from work and was like woah!) I decided to fix all this – enter the New Space Saving Doors!!
I jumped online and placed an order for Lowe’s pickup for bi-fold doors and black hinges (to match the rest of my house. These are actually cheaper and the one’s I have in the rest of my house). I love placing online Lowe’s orders because I get to use my Rakuten and grab cash back!! (you can read more about Rakuten here) Plus, when it’s ready I get a text, head over there and they bring it out to my car! Perfect for mom’s with little ones!
Ok, so I’m ready now for my new doors! I took of the old one (listed it on FB Marketplace to make some extra money!); removed all the old hinges and hardware and got ready to install the new space saving doors!
I took off the hinges on the bi-fold doors because I don’t want them to stay attached. I then attached the black door hinges to each bifold door. I then (with the help of my son, some wedges and patience) attached the doors to the door jam. Being a perfectionist, this wasn’t as easy as it sounds! I had to make sure they were even and level and at one point had to walk away! BUT it’s done and looks amazing!
After they were hung, I wood filled the holes from the original hinges and then painted the doors to match the bathroom and bedroom. I grabbed some super cheap handles (here + right now they have a 10% coupon!!) and attached those on both sides of the doors.
Viola! Look at how amazing these are! I LOVE them and only wish I had done this so long ago! They save so much space inside and out! They don’t take up any bedroom space because they open to wasted space! It really is the perfect solution! And under $100! Now my daughter wants them for her room because she says they are like princess doors! Hmm maybe I’m on to something here!
My original plan for this space was a barn door. But after some planning and thinking it would of been hard up against the wall and sliding behind the dresser. Plus, I love barndoors in other spaces, but not sure it fits with the decor style in my space.
I hope this helps everyone who has that one (or two!) doors in your home you just can’t stand and want to do something with!! Will you be replacing a door with new space saving doors?!?
